{Julius Meinl}

This Austrian cafe has one of the best atmospheres in Chicago, and one of the rare places that still stands firm to my childhood memories of visiting there. When sitting at the marble topped tables you fell like you’ve been transported to a foreign historical drama, new wave film or, variable movable feast, waiting for Lady Brett to sweep in filling the room with her charm, and her lingering presence at her departure, or Audrey Hepburn circa 1960’s to sit in her Givenchy outfit waiting for Peter O’Toole. Its the place where you feel sophisticated, bohemian and nostalgic. The coffee is good, the tea is pure, and the pastries are glorious.
